When it all seems to be crumbling...

It has been a while since I posted something, and with the recent events in the world I think it is important to give hope at a time when it seems like there is none.

I don’t think any of us could of guessed that there would be a pandemic that is spreading fast across the world. The world as we know it has changed. Our world is flipped upside down. Our economies, our work, our schools, our travel. Everything is affected.

What are we supposed to do? I know that if I just said “Trust God.” You might say “And? Do you see how crazy everything is?”

In life we have many choices some are easier than others. In life there are many illusions that we may have. The biggest illusion that we have is that we are in control over our life. I think we see that we are not in control in this present situation.

We may believe that we are in control of our jobs or our social life. Many have lost jobs, are struggling to keep their job and we are unable to even go out.

Right now we have two choices (when it comes to spiritual things):

We have the choice to lean on God and to trust that God is still in control or to go farther away from God and don’t bother with spiritual things.

If we are not in control of our life then who is? I believe that God is. The God of Christianity is not just a superior being among other beings. The God of Christianity is the author of all life and the creator of all that is. God is always in control.

Our world is not perfect. The world has diseases, calamities, sickness, fighting. Jesus came into this world to save it by becoming one of us.

This is the hope: Jesus came into this world to die so that we can live in Heaven. In the eyes of those who killed him, Jesus failed because he died.

As Christians, we believe that he did not fail but he conquered death.

This pandemic at this moment seems like the world is crumbling and all is failing. But, just as Jesus did not fail when the world thought he failed, God will not fail in bringing out good with all that is happening in the world.

My favorite scripture verse is John 16:33: “In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world.”

Jesus encourages his disciples to not be afraid in the face of hardship. Jesus encourages us to not be afraid as well. God is with us.
