A Way to Feed Your Soul this Lent

Hello everyone it has been a while since I posted anything. I will keep this post short.

Personally, I know that when I don’t take time to reflect things can simply pass me by. I want to ask you what I have been asking myself this Lent. How is your Lent going? How is your relationship with God? Am I closer to God? Am I farther from God?

At the start of this year, I felt a call from God to read more Scripture. God wanted me to get familiar with the story of Salvation. It is very easy to fall into despair, doubt, and fear. God wanted me to learn the story of our ancestors in the faith, so I can grow in trust and love of God. As I am reading the story of Israel I learned about God’s faithfulness despite all their struggles, trials, and battles. It has brought me closer to God this Lent.

I invite you to read more Scripture this Lent. God is using Scripture to change my life for the better, and I believe that it can also change your life for the better.

Here are some ideas to read more Scripture this Lent:

  1. Fr. Mike Schmitz has an extremely popular podcast where he goes through the bible in a year. This is an easy option for those who are busy! Here is the link: https://ascensionpress.com/pages/biy-registration or you can simply find it in any podcast app by searching “The Bible in a Year”

  2. You can reflect on the Sunday mass readings or the daily mass readings daily and ask yourself some simple reflection questions as you read “What words stood out to you as you read these readings? What did you find stirring in your heart?”

  3. If you want to understand the story of Salvation there is a fantastic bible study from Ascension Press. This is what I have been doing. It has been eye opening, and inspiring. You can find it here: https://ascensionpress.com/collections/the-bible-timeline-the-story-of-salvation

  4. Go through Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and just read from start to finish. Read a few verses a day or as much as you want.

May God bless you this Lent! I pray that God’s word gives you strength and hope during these times.
