God delights in you
I tell people often “Did you know that God loves you?” And I often year “Yes, father I know that God loves me.”
Many people have this understanding that “God loves me” because they have always heard it. As a young person, we hear many times “God loves you. God loves you. God loves you.” Overtime I think we have this intellectual understanding that God loves us, but do we really believe it?
I met this person who I know believes in God. They are trying to get closer to God. They have been doing there best to right their wrongs and to come back to God. There was a moment where this person discovered that past hurts and past sins have remained hidden and this kept them from experiencing God’s love for them.
God has a unique love for each one of us. Just as some of you have kids. And each kid as different as they are or as similar are loved uniquely by you.
This person experienced deep hurts from their father who left and wanted nothing to do with them. Often times our hurts from our own father (or mother) keeps us from experiencing the love that God has for us.
How many of us have felt unworthy? Another way to see what something is worth is to see the price paid for it.
How do you know your worth? Jesus, the Son of God, the one who made you and created you became human to die for you because He could not live without you. Let that sink in. Jesus died for you. He did not die for “humanity as a whole.” He died for you.
When we look at our world right now we can often wonder if God loves us or if God is there. There is this deep fear and worry about how things will turn out.
Jesus came into the world to remind us that we have a Heavenly Father who has always loved us and who always will love us. Maybe things don’t turn out the way that we want. God has a plan for us.
We all have a struggle because of sin: We often wonder if God is trustworthy. If God is good. If God loves us.
Matthew 6:25 says “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink, nor about your body, what you shall put on…Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”
You are loved by the Father. God cares about you more than you realize.
Say this prayer “God the Father show me your love and help me to come back to you.”
If you have a bad relationship with your dad (or mom) considered giving that over to God. Forgiving someone does not mean that you condone what they have done to hurt you. It just means to let that go to God and let God take care of it. You can say these words
“In Jesus’ name I forgive my (insert name here) for (how did they hurt you).”
I.E. In Jesus’ name I forgive my father for not living me the way that I wanted.
