Finding God’s Love: Life Lessons from an 82-Year-Old’s Reflection This Christmas
Recently, I had the chance to visit an elderly man. He was 82 years old, reflecting deeply on his life. Someone described him as a man that has been in and out of the church. But he was wrestling with what it all meant. This visit turned out to be both enlightening and touching.
Lessons from Reflection
While we were together, he shared his life stories. His past had its good and bad moments. He remembered racing horses and other choices he made, and those decisions felt important.
He realized how important our actions are in relation to God.
Despite his past mistakes, there was a deep desire to connect with the divine.
He understood the profound realization of God's mercy, which can be surprising even to the most hardened hearts.
This is what he said:
"All that matters in life is man's search for God.”
The heart of the Christmas message is that “Christmas is God’s search for us.” We need to open ourselves to that search. It’s easy to feel unworthy, especially when reflecting on our lives. But God's love remains unwavering. This Christmas remember this truth. God came into our world to save us, to love us, and to show us the way back home.
